Software Engineer, Vercel Marketplace
**Role Summary**
Design, build, and scale the Vercel Marketplace platform, focusing on provider‑side and end‑user experiences for provisioning, checkout, and billing. Lead architectural decisions, develop REST/GraphQL APIs, and collaborate cross‑functionally to deliver frictionless integrations for AI, storage, authentication, and other partner categories.
**Expectations**
- 6+ years of full‑stack engineering experience, including high‑traffic systems and critical functions such as checkout and payments.
- Proven ability to write secure, scalable, and well‑documented code.
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder collaboration and partner engagement.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Architect and implement the next‑generation Marketplace platform, ensuring performance and reliability at scale.
- Develop provisioning, checkout, and billing APIs that integrate seamlessly with Vercel’s core services.
- Onboard and maintain integrations across diverse provider categories (AI, storage, experimentation, authentication, etc.).
- Continuously optimize system throughput, latency, and availability.
- Partner with Product, Data, Finance, Go‑to‑Market, and Infrastructure teams to align technical direction with business goals.
- Write unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests; enforce code quality standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
**Required Skills**
- Deep proficiency in at least one server‑side language: Node.js, Python, or Go.
- Experience building complex business logic for billing, payments, or provisioning systems.
- Strong understanding of cloud services (AWS, preferably) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with API design (REST, GraphQL) and asynchronous processing patterns.
- Knowledge of security best practices (authentication, authorization, PCI compliance).
- Demonstrated performance tuning, caching, and monitoring skills.
- Excellent problem‑solving and written/ verbal communication abilities.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, CKA/K8s, or equivalent) are a plus.
