**Job title:** Telco Principal Architect
**Role Summary:** Deliver end‑to‑end architecture for a private cloud deployment in the telecom sector, guiding technical decisions, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring alignment with security, compliance, and operational tooling.
**Expectations:**
- Lead architecture practice on a 6‑month contract, working remotely and billing £640‑£680/day outside IR35.
- Exhibit deep telecom domain knowledge, regulatory compliance, and high‑level stakeholder interaction.
- Drive architecture decisions, deliver design artifacts, and ensure readiness for application onboarding.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Own and maintain project scope architecture, producing high‑ and low‑level designs.
- Lead Architecture Review Boards, steer technical decision‑making, and control scope changes.
- Provide technical thought leadership across delivery teams and customers.
- Manage risks (RAID), assess change impacts, and govern technical workstreams spanning network, compute, virtualization, and storage.
- Ensure platform readiness for application onboarding, align with test strategy, and facilitate OSS/tooling integration.
- Represent architecture on programme boards, steering committees, and executive updates.
- Deploy infrastructure for target workloads on Red Hat OpenShift and Wind River.
**Required Skills:**
- Architecture leadership for on‑prem Kubernetes platforms (OpenShift, OpenStack, Wind River).
- Telecom industry experience, including regulatory and TSA considerations.
- Proven ability to create HLDs and LLDs.
- Expertise in RHV, Kubernetes/OpenShift, cloud‑native deployments, bare‑metal and Zero‑Touch Provisioning (ZTP) automation.
- Familiarity with VMware vSphere/vSAN/NSX‑T migration to Red Hat/Wind River.
- Awareness of CI/CD, GitLab, and DevOps principles.
- Advantageous knowledge of OpenShift TNC, Calico, MetalLB, Istio, Pure/Portworx storage, OpenStack (Red Hat & Wind River), KubeVirt, Arista/Cisco networking.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified Architect – OpenShift or equivalent are preferred.
