Job Description

**Job Title:** Oracle Solutions Architect **Role Summary:** Design, optimize, and troubleshoot large-scale Oracle RAC database systems for a UK government data warehouse re‑platforming project. Work remotely with a dispersed architecture team to provide expertise in DBA, performance tuning, security, and integration with commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) applications within a secure, on‑premises environment. **Expectations:** - Acquire necessary security clearance. - Deliver on tight project timelines while maintaining high-quality documentation and communication. - Provide guidance on database architecture, migration, and secure deployment within a government context. **Key Responsibilities:** - Analyze database tables, index structures, and PL/SQL/SQL code to identify performance bottlenecks. - Execute performance tuning for large‑scale, high‑transaction Oracle 19c RAC/ASM environments. - Apply Oracle namespace security, including mTLS, TDE, secure views, and partitioning. - Conduct database migration tasks (on‑premise to Azure/OCI) and validate post‑migration integrity. - Troubleshoot Oracle client software and resolve connectivity issues. - Collaborate with COTS applications, ensuring seamless data exchange and integration. - Utilize RMAN, Dataguard, and related recovery tools for data protection. - Document architecture decisions, troubleshooting steps, and best‑practice guidelines. - Communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders in both written and oral formats. **Required Skills:** - Oracle DBA expertise (≥10 years) with in‑depth knowledge of Oracle 19c. - Proficiency in table analysis, index tuning, PL/SQL/SQL optimization. - Experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, Dataguard, RMAN, and secure views. - Strong grasp of Oracle security features: mTLS, TDE, Kerberos, firewall considerations. - Familiarity with Linux (OEL/RHEL 7/8) and Windows environments. - Ability to work independently and within distributed teams. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. - Oracle certifications such as Oracle Certified Master (OCM) or equivalent are highly desirable. - Security clearance eligible for government projects.
