**Job Title:** Product Functional Test – Summer Internship
**Role Summary:**
Internship focused on designing, specifying, validating, and supporting laboratory test systems for engineering evaluation of product performance. The role involves mechanical, electrical, plumbing, instrumentation, data acquisition, and control system integration, with an emphasis on process improvement and problem resolution.
**Expectations:**
- Full‑time, accredited U.S. college/university student (undergraduate or graduate) enrolled in an engineering program.
- Minimum 2.5 GPA (preferred).
- Commitment of 4–12 months, 40 hours per week, with U.S. residency required.
- Ability to learn from team members, collaborate, and contribute to project goals.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Design, implement, and validate test systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, instrumentation).
2. Operate and support data acquisition and control systems for product functional testing.
3. Analyze test system/process issues, identify causal mechanisms, and recommend solutions.
4. Apply and improve processes using FMEA, 7‑step problem solving, and process hazard analysis.
5. Prepare and deliver test system requirements, procedures, and documentation to lab technicians, engineers, and suppliers.
6. Assist in component selection, calibration procedures, and operating processes affecting accuracy, reliability, and cost.
7. Resolve moderately complex problems related to components, products, or systems.
8. Coordinate work among engineers and technicians, ensuring quality decision making and project progress.
9. Maintain laboratory equipment safety standards and contribute to continuous improvement of systems.
