Job Description: **Job title:** Senior Virtualisation Engineer **Role Summary:** Lead the design, implementation, and support of enterprise virtualisation platforms, focusing on VMware vSphere, VMware NSX, and VDI solutions. Provide expert guidance to cross‑functional teams, maintain Windows infrastructure (Active Directory, GPO, domain services), and troubleshoot complex performance and security issues in a secure (SC‑cleared) environment. **Expectations:** - Act as a senior technical resource and mentor for engineering teams. - Engage with infrastructure, network, and security stakeholders to deliver secure, high‑availability virtual environments. - Operate within a highly regulated environment requiring active UK Security Clearance. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design, deploy, and maintain VMware‑based virtualisation environments (vSphere, vCenter). - Configure and manage NSX for laboratory and production networking. - Deliver and support VDI solutions, ensuring optimal performance and availability. - Administer Windows estates (Active Directory, GPO, permissions, domain services). - Deploy and maintain virtual machines across multiple platforms. - Resolve complex infrastructure and performance problems. - Lead continuous improvement initiatives and enforce best practices. - Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams. **Required Skills:** - Extensive hands‑on experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, and VMware NSX. - Proven delivery and support of VDI environments. - Strong understanding of enterprise networking concepts. - Advanced Windows administration: Active Directory, GPO, permissions, access control, domain services. - Effective troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and problem‑solving. - Ability to work as a senior engineer, coordinating with technical and non‑technical stakeholders. - Experience in secure, SC‑cleared environments. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Active UK SC (Security Clearance). - Relevant VMware certification (e.g., VCP) or equivalent. ---
