Job title: Director of Business Development
Role Summary:
Lead the UK business‑development strategy for a cross‑border payments platform, driving customer acquisition and revenue growth through high‑impact partnerships with banks, fintechs, and enterprise clients. Own the end‑to‑end sales cycle, negotiate complex commercial agreements, and collaborate with product, compliance, marketing, and operations to deliver a seamless partner experience.
Expectations:
- Deliver measurable growth in UK revenue and customer base.
- Close high‑value, complex deals with financial institutions and regulated entities.
- Translate market insights into actionable GTM improvements and product roadmap contributions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute the UK BD strategy focusing on financial institutions, platforms, and enterprise verticals.
- Build and manage a high‑quality pipeline of prospects, prioritizing high‑impact opportunities.
- Lead the full sales cycle: source, qualify, propose solutions, negotiate terms, and close agreements.
- Present and sell an API‑first cross‑border payments platform to C‑level executives.
- Drive commercial and legal negotiations, ensuring favorable terms and alignment with company objectives.
- Refine pricing, messaging, and pitch materials based on partner feedback and competitive analysis.
- Collaborate with internal teams (product, compliance, marketing, operations) to shape the partner journey and inform product development.
- Continuously update the GTM playbook and share insights with senior management.
- Serve as the UK market voice within the organization, advocating for local needs and opportunities.
Required Skills:
- 8+ years of progressive experience closing complex, high‑value deals in fintech or financial services.
- Deep understanding of payments, FX, embedded finance, and APIs.
- Strategic thinker with a data‑driven, hands‑on execution style.
- Strong consultative sales approach; experienced in negotiating with enterprise C‑level executives.
- Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and stakeholder influence skills.
- Ability to collaborate across product, compliance, and commercial functions.
- Persistent, self‑motivated, and thrives in fast‑moving environments.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Certified Payments Professional) are a plus.
