**Job title:** Senior Platform Engineer – WebSphere & WebLogic
**Role Summary:**
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise middleware solutions that support mission‑critical applications. Lead the automation of deployment pipelines, implement performance and security best practices, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable platform services.
**Expectations:**
- 4+ years of relevant software engineering or platform‑engineering experience (5+ preferred).
- Proven expertise in IBM WebSphere and Oracle WebLogic administration, including clustering, tuning, and secure configurations.
- Strong scripting skills (wsadmin, WLST, Python, Shell) and experience integrating middleware into CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to lead complex platform initiatives, produce high‑quality code, and mentor junior team members.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design, develop, and deploy middleware services using WebSphere and WebLogic.
- Configure and manage clustered environments, load balancers, and reverse‑proxy solutions (IBM HTTP Server, Oracle HTTP Server, NGINX).
- Automate builds, releases, and rollback procedures via CI/CD tools; enforce twelve‑factor principles.
- Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code; conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards.
- Develop comprehensive unit and integration tests, applying test‑driven development practices.
- Perform root‑cause analysis, debug complex issues, and provide rapid technical support to minimize downtime.
- Optimize performance using monitoring tools (AppDynamics, Datadog) and apply tuning recommendations.
- Maintain detailed documentation covering application architecture, deployment procedures, and configuration settings.
- Advise on security posture: SSL/TLS, LDAP, SSO, and compliance requirements.
**Required Skills:**
- Proficiency in IBM WebSphere Application Server (including WSAS, EAP, and SmartDeploy) and Oracle WebLogic Server (including WLST, Automation).
- Experience with web hosting platforms (Apache, IIS) and load balancing solutions.
- Strong scripting capabilities in Python, shell, and middleware‑specific languages.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.) and artifact management.
- Familiarity with security protocols (SSL/TLS), authentication mechanisms (LDAP, SSO), and compliance frameworks.
- Experience with monitoring and performance analytics tools (AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Datadog).
- Exposure to container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) for middleware workloads.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Certifications (preferred): IBM Certified System Administrator – WebSphere Application Server, Oracle Applications Server Certified Professional – WebLogic Server, or equivalent middleware certification.
