Job title: Data Center Capacity Planner
Role Summary:
Plan, forecast, and manage datacenter capacity (power, cooling, space, network) to align hardware deployment with strategic roadmaps. Ensure efficient utilization, compliance with safety/security standards, and support infrastructure expansions and migrations.
Expactations:
- Deliver accurate capacity plans and utilization reports to inform budgeting and investment decisions.
- Optimize existing datacenter infrastructure to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Liaise across IT, facilities, and procurement teams to drive timely procurement, deployment, and decommissioning of assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain datacenter layout designs, rack elevations, and physical hardware placements.
- Forecast power, cooling, space, and network requirements for current and future periods.
- Track inventory lifecycle from procurement through decommission, ensuring accurate asset records.
- Monitor resource utilization to identify bottlenecks and model performance scenarios.
- Ensure datacenter designs comply with safety, security, and regulatory standards.
- Produce documentation and management reports on capacity, inventory, and expansion initiatives.
- Support project management activities for expansions, migrations, and hardware refreshes.
- Use DCIM tools to capture, visualize, and analyze infrastructure data.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and best practices to enhance datacenter efficiency.
- Maintain enterprise Wintel (Windows Server 2016/2019/2022) and RHEL environments.
- Manage SAN/NAS storage provisioning, tiering, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Implement backup, recovery, and high‑availability strategies across platforms.
Required Skills:
- Datacenter capacity planning and forecasting.
- DCIM solution expertise (e.g., Sunbird, Nlyte, or similar).
- Facility design and spatial planning (rack elevation, floor layout).
- Asset lifecycle and inventory management.
- Proficiency with Windows Server environments and RHEL.
- Storage infrastructure (SAN/NAS) administration and capacity management.
- Strong analytical and data‑driven decision‑making.
- Project coordination and stakeholder communication.
- Knowledge of safety, security, and compliance standards (e.g., ISO/IEC, NIST).
- Ability to evaluate and recommend technology improvements.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical/Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant certifications such as:
• DCIM-certified (e.g., DCIM Fundamentals or advanced program)
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or Windows Server Administrator
• CompTIA Server+ or equivalent.
