Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel – Technology, AI & Procurement
Role Summary:
Provide senior legal leadership on technology, artificial intelligence, data protection, and procurement matters. Draft, negotiate, and advise on commercial, licensing, data processing, and AI agreements while collaborating with cross‑functional teams and C‑suite stakeholders. Manage a direct report and contribute to the evolution of legal processes and policies.
Expectations:
- Obtain full solicitor qualification and possess several years of post‑qualification experience.
- Demonstrate strong commercial, IP, data protection, and privacy law expertise with a focus on technology, AI, and procurement.
- Exhibit proven in‑house experience in a technology‑heavy organization, ideally with global exposure.
- Maintain effective stakeholder management and communication skills, delivering concise, risk‑aware solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead all legal support for technology, AI, and procurement across the organization.
2. Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on SaaS, software licensing, data processing, reseller/introducer, and AI‑related contracts.
3. Counsel stakeholders on AI, data protection, and emerging technology regulatory developments in partnership with Privacy, Data, and Security functions.
4. Act as the day‑to‑day liaison with Procurement and collaborate with Tech, Data Science, Corporate Development, Risk, and Compliance, including C‑suite interactions.
5. Manage and develop a direct report, fostering growth and legal excellence.
6. Define and continuously improve legal vision, policies, processes, and standards for the technology and procurement domain.
Required Skills:
- Deep knowledge of commercial, IP, data protection, privacy, outsourcing, and procurement law.
- Strong background in technology contracts and AI regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with cross‑functional project management and complex process implementation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication abilities.
- Ability to simplify intricate legal matters and deliver timely, risk‑aware outcomes.
- Collaborative mindset with passion for legal technology and innovation.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Qualified solicitor (UK or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience in relevant legal fields.
- Preferable advanced training or foundational experience from a leading technology or commercial law firm.
