Job title: Full Stack Developer
Role Summary: Deliver and enhance user‑focused digital services for a public sector client, building end‑to‑end solutions that meet GOV.UK Design System, GDS Service Standard, and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility guidelines. Work across JS/TS/React front‑end and Node.js/Java/Spring Boot back‑end, collaborating within agile, DevOps‑centric delivery.
Expactations: Rapid attainment of high‑quality code, strong test coverage, and seamless deployment pipelines; active participation in live service support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement; alignment with government standards and accessibility best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain full‑stack applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, Java, Spring Boot.
- Build RESTful APIs and microservices adhering to GDS Service Standard.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, etc.) and automated testing (Jest, Mocha, Cypress, Playwright, JUnit).
- Contribute to cloud‑based deployment workflows, monitoring, and logging.
- Ensure accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and usability across all components.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, DevOps engineers, and user researchers in an agile environment.
- Support live services, troubleshoot incidents, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Full‑Stack Developer in commercial or public‑sector projects.
- Front‑end: JavaScript, TypeScript, React; back‑end: Node.js, Java, Spring Boot.
- Strong understanding of REST API design, microservice architecture, and system integration.
- Hands‑on DevOps: CI/CD, automated testing frameworks, monitoring, and logging.
- Familiarity with GOV.UK Design System, GDS Service Standard, and WCAG 2.1 AA.
- Proficient with Git and modern, collaborative development workflows.
Required Education & Certifications
- Relevant tertiary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
- Preferably completed certifications in cloud platforms, DevOps or GDS standards (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Azure DevOps Engineer, GDS Compliance).
