Job Description

Job title: Senior Software Engineer (Head of Web & Backend) Role Summary: Lead design, implementation and scaling of AI‑enabled clinical decision‑support platforms, owning both the front‑end web experience and cloud‑native back‑end services. Deliver high‑quality, secure, mission‑critical software that supports rapid product adoption across healthcare systems. Expectations: - Direct ownership of architecture, performance, and technical direction for both web and back‑end components. - Mentor junior engineers, elevate engineering standards, and actively shape team culture. - Collaborate closely with product, clinical and mobile teams to translate user needs into reliable, scalable solutions. Key Responsibilities – Front‑End (Head of Web): - Build and maintain production web applications using React and TypeScript. - Define and evolve architecture, ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability. - Identify and remediate technical debt through code refactor and best‑practice enforcement. - Integrate front‑end with back‑end and mobile services; drive consistency across platforms. - Implement robust testing, CI/CD, and documentation practices. Key Responsibilities – Back‑End (Senior Backend Engineer): - Design and develop serverless back‑end services on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, S3, OpenSearch). - Write infrastructure‑as‑code with Terraform; containerise services with Docker; maintain CI/CD pipelines. - Engineer LLM‑powered features (e.g., RAG pipelines) and document extraction workflows for clinical PDFs. - Own performance, reliability, and security of back‑end systems; enforce best practices for scalability. - Collaborate with product and front‑end teams to incorporate new features into the platform. Required Skills – Front‑End: - Advanced proficiency in React and TypeScript. - Proven experience building and scaling production web applications. - Deep knowledge of design patterns, performance optimisation, and scalability. Required Skills – Back‑End: - 5+ years of back‑end engineering with AWS. - Expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and Python; experience with DynamoDB and PostgreSQL. - Hands‑on experience with serverless architecture, LLM/AI workflows, and semantic search. - Facility with infra‑as‑code (Terraform), Docker and CI/CD tooling. Additional Requirements: - Strong problem‑solving mindset and pragmatic decision‑making typical of startup environments. - Leadership experience: ownership, architectural decision‑making, and mentorship. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field. - AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent is a plus. ---
