Job Description
Job Title: Data Engineer Role Summary: 6‑month contract, cloud‑first Data Engineer responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines on AWS. Works with SQL and Python to ingest, transform, and deliver data for reporting and monetisation while ensuring clean, scalable, and thoroughly tested code. Expectations: - Deliver end‑to‑end data solutions within the contract period. - Collaborate cross‑functionally with technical and non‑technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust data architecture. - Maintain high data quality, reliability, and performance standards. Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and optimise ETL pipelines in AWS (Glue, Lambda, S3, EC2). - Migrate and modernise legacy ETL processes and data warehouses for reporting. - Write efficient, well‑documented SQL and Python code for data extraction, transformation, and loading. - Implement QA processes and support both scheduled and ad‑hoc data deliverables. - Automate repetitive workflows to reduce time and cost. - Work closely with fellow Data Engineers and Product Owner to ensure cohesive architecture and deployment. Required Skills: - 2+ years hands‑on experience managing large relational databases (≥500K customers). - Deep understanding of relational database concepts and performance optimisation. - Strong proficiency in SQL (Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS). - Proficient in Python for data engineering tasks. - Experience designing solutions in cloud environments, preferably AWS (Glue, Lambda, S3, EC2, Jupyter). - Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI or Tableau) and advanced Excel (PowerPivot, VBA, advanced formulas) is a plus. - Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to translate business needs into technical specifications. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related technical field. - AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Data Analytics – optional but preferred).
