Job Description
**Job Title:** Infrastructure Engineer **Role Summary:** Provide 1st and 2nd line support and manage core IT infrastructure—including servers, virtual environments, storage, networking, and security—to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure operations for a high‑performance engineering organization. **Expectations:** - Deliver timely incident resolution and maintain high service availability. - Independently manage multiple tasks and prioritize work under pressure. - Communicate technical information clearly to non‑technical staff. - Adhere to ITIL processes and health & safety standards. - Participate in after‑hours maintenance and emergency response as needed. **Key Responsibilities:** - Resolve hardware, software, and service issues (1st/2nd line support). - Administer desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and user accounts. - Manage Windows/Linux servers, VDI, VMware vSphere, and enterprise storage (e.g., NetApp). - Monitor system health, own incidents, and perform root‑cause analysis. - Maintain Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, certificate services, and Group Policy. - Implement backup, restore, and disaster‑recovery procedures. - Execute planned upgrades, patches, and infrastructure improvements. - Document configurations and actions; use ITSM tools (JIRA, ServiceNow, IFS Assyst). - Support network and security functions: firewall rules, segmentation, endpoint protection, 802.1x. - Contribute to ITIL‑aligned Incident, Problem, Change, and Request management. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align technology with operational needs. **Required Skills:** - Proven experience in IT infrastructure and end‑user support. - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Linux, Office Suite, and device management. - Hands‑on expertise with VMware virtualization and enterprise storage systems. - Understanding of networking (TCP/IP, VLANs), security protocols, and IAM concepts. - Proficiency with ITSM platforms and remote support tools. - Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation abilities. - Good communication skills; able to explain technical topics to non‑technical audiences. - Ability to work independently, manage projects, and meet deadlines. - Flexibility for out‑of‑hours work and emergency response. - Desirable: scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash), infrastructure as code, containerisation (Kubernetes), ITIL certification. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Relevant certifications preferred: VMware VCP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or Windows Server, ITIL Foundation, CompTIA Network+/Security+, Linux Professional Institute (LPIC).
