Role: Murex Business Analyst
Duration: Contract
Location: London or Reading (Hybrid)
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Murex Business Analyst to join our team and support front-to-back implementation, enhancements, and support of the Murex platform. The successful candidate will act as a bridge between business stakeholders, technology teams, and vendors, ensuring that functional requirements are well-defined, documented, and delivered within agreed timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Gather, analyse, and document business requirements across front office, risk, operations, and finance for the Murex platform.
Work closely with traders, risk managers, operations, and finance users to understand needs and translate them into functional specifications.
Configure and validate Murex modules (FO, BO, Risk, Collateral, Accounting, Regulatory, etc.) depending on project scope.
Support trade workflows, product setup, risk calculations, reporting, and P&L attribution in Murex.
Manage functional testing, UAT coordination, defect analysis, and resolution.
Liaise with development teams and vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of enhancements and fixes.
Contribute to project planning, migration activities, and change management processes.
Provide SME-level support for Murex-related issues and ensure smooth BAU operations.
Maintain documentation, workflows, and knowledge base for future reference.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience as a Business Analyst within investment banking, asset management, or consulting, with hands-on Murex expertise.
Strong understanding of front-to-back trade lifecycle for asset classes (FX, Rates, Credit, Commodities, or Equities).
Good knowledge of Murex modules such as:
Trade capture & booking
Risk (VaR, sensitivities, P&L explain)
Back Office workflows (settlements, confirmations, payments)
Collateral Management
Accounting & Regulatory Reporting
Strong analytical skills with ability to translate complex business processes into system solutions.
Hands-on experience with SQL and trade data analysis.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery methodology is a plus.
Nice-to-Have
Experience with Murex migration or upgrade projects (e.g., from MX.3 to newer versions).
Knowledge of scripting (Perl, Python, Shell) for automation or data analysis.
Exposure to risk management frameworks and regulatory initiatives (Basel III/IV, FRTB, EMIR, MiFID, etc.).
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Professional certifications (CFA, FRM, Agile BA, etc.) are advantageous.
