Job Description

As a Lead Engineer at Next Unicorn, you will play a pivotal role in building the core product from the ground up. This role isn't just about writing code, it's about co-creating the foundation of a company positioned to redefine early-stage funding. You'll be hands-on in developing features, solving tough technical challenges, and helping shape the direction of a platform that connects startups and investors in smarter, data-driven ways.

NOTE: This is an equity based opportunity. Once we receive funding we will be paying competitive salaries plus equity.

Company Overview

At Next Unicorn, we are building a platform to address one of early-stage funding's most critical challenges: startup visibility. Our platform provides investors with the infrastructure to seamlessly discover, evaluate, and invest in high potential startups all within one centralized and secure environment.

Responsibilities

Build and ship core features, including:

-A secure due diligence room (document sharing, chat, scheduling).

-An AI-driven matchmaking engine connecting startups to investors.

-Co-investment and solo investment features, enabling investors to participate individually or collaboratively in startup funding rounds

Write production-grade code across the stack (front-end + back-end).
Help design scalable SaaS architecture (APIs, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, security).
Debug, optimize, and iterate quickly in an agile, early-stage environment.
Work directly with the founding team on feature planning, product execution, and rapid iteration.

Who You Are

A hands-on coder with strong experience in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or other modern web frameworks.
Experienced with SaaS platforms, APIs, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure).
Startup-minded: comfortable moving fast, solving problems, and wearing multiple hats.
Excited by ownership -- you want more than a job, you want to help build something market-defining.
Exposure to AI/ML tools, API integrations, or fintech-related platforms.
