Job Title: Senior Software Engineer
Location: Remote (U.S. only)
Hourly Pay Rate: $85/hr W2 only
Contract Duration: 6 months (possible extension or conversion based on performance and budget)
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week, standard business hours)
Introduction
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of high-performance, scalable backend systems. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and has a proven track record of building mission-critical infrastructure at scale. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving architecture strategy, guiding engineering best practices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
10+ years of professional software engineering experience
Proven experience designing and scaling large, mission-critical backend systems
Expertise in databases (Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB), including data strategy, optimization, and performance tuning
Strong track record leading technical initiatives spanning multiple teams and domains
Strong fundamentals in computer science (data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, networking, databases, security)
Ability to identify and resolve technical debt, drive adoption of best practices, and mentor engineering peers
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Experience with service-oriented architectures across multiple teams and domains
Strong background in designing low-latency, scalable systems
Ability to quickly master new engineering systems and create reusable frameworks, onboarding paths, and documentation for wider adoption
Demonstrated success influencing roadmaps and delivering business-critical systems in large-scale environments
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Lead the architecture and technical strategy for scalable infrastructure supporting enterprise-level adoption of new technology
Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and deliver impactful solutions
Design, implement, and evolve backend services with a focus on scalability, security, and compliance
Produce well-architected, maintainable systems that adhere to engineering excellence standards
Proactively address sources of technical debt and ensure long-term system health
Mentor engineers, share best practices, and raise the technical bar across the organization
Guide multi-team execution of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment, quality, and measurable results
