We are seeking an experienced Senior Solution Architect to join a high-profile, sensitive project supporting a central government department. This is a senior, hands-on role working across multiple products, projects and teams requiring broad architectural thinking and the ability to design, assure and guide the implementation of complex technical solutions. Part time contract opportunity, up to PS850/day inside IR35, based in Corsham with travel expensed.

Role

The role will take ownership of the technical design of systems and services, ensuring alignment to wider government strategies and cross-government standards, while mentoring other architects and providing technical assurance throughout delivery.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Solution Architect, you will:

Lead on reviewing and assuring supplier solutions against defined business and technology requirements, ensuring full traceability.
Provide expert advice and support to suppliers in the production of technical documentation and delivery of technical capabilities.
Oversee and support the successful implementation of public key infrastructure (PKI) elements.
Provide knowledge transfer and mentoring to suppliers and teams where agreed.
Deliver verbal and written reports on progress, risks and outcomes to the Authority at agreed milestones.
Contribute to and manage project risk registers to ensure risks are resolved to a successful conclusion.
Support solution testing with both internal and external stakeholders.
Engage with external stakeholders when required to ensure alignment and delivery success.
Produce recommendations and plans for effective knowledge transfer.

Skills & Experience

Proven experience in Solution Architecture across complex digital services.
Strong technical background with exposure to a wide range of technologies (proprietary and open-source).
Expertise in Business, Data, and Application Architecture.
Experience of Architectural Modelling to support enterprise architecture.
Awareness of Cloud and dispersed architectures to deliver modern solutions.
Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to influence and mentor.
Commercial awareness and understanding of supplier relationships.
Experience in Digital Service Integration.
Requirement traceability is desirable

Please note this is a part-time requirement: 30 working days spread across the engagement which runs until 31 July 2026. This is ad-hoc working as agreed with the hiring manager on a monthly basis. Expenses to location travel will be allocated.
