Job Title: Reporting Lead - Capital Projects (Mining)

Position Summary
Our client, a recognized mining company, is seeking a highly skilled Reporting Lead to oversee performance reporting for large-scale capital projects within their mining operations. This role is critical in providing accurate, timely, and actionable insights into project progress, cost, schedule, and risk. The successful candidate will consolidate data from multiple stakeholders, contractors, and systems to produce clear and consistent reports for executive leadership, project governance, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Performance Reporting
Track and report progress against scope, schedule, budget, and quality targets for major mining capital projects.
Maintain and present key performance indicators (KPIs) including Earned Value (EV), Cost Performance Index (CPI), and Schedule Performance Index (SPI).
Financial & Cost Tracking
Consolidate capital expenditure (CAPEX) data across work packages and contractors.
Prepare monthly cost forecasts, variance analysis, and cash flow projections.
Identify trends, risks, and cost optimization opportunities.
Schedule Reporting
Collaborate with project schedulers to integrate and report schedule data from tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
Provide milestone tracking and critical path analysis for leadership reviews.
Risk & Issues Reporting
Maintain a centralized register of project risks, issues, and opportunities.
Communicate potential impacts on cost, schedule, and scope in a clear, concise manner.
Governance & Stakeholder Reporting
Produce monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports for executives, project sponsors, and regulatory bodies.
Ensure compliance with stage-gate and corporate governance requirements.
Contractor & Vendor Data Integration
Standardize reporting templates and processes for EPCM contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Validate and integrate third-party data into consolidated project reports.
Data Quality & Process Improvement
Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and timeliness across all reporting streams.
Implement automation and business intelligence solutions (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to improve efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Reporting Lead, Project Controls Analyst, or similar role in large-scale capital projects.
Strong experience in the mining industry capital project environments (processing facilities, mine expansions, infrastructure).
Proficiency in project controls tools such as Primavera P6 and cost management systems (EcoSys, Prism, or SAP).
Advanced skills in BI and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel Power Query/Pivot).
Strong financial acumen with experience in CAPEX tracking and forecasting.
Excellent communication skills for engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Data Analytics, or related discipline.
Knowledge of stage-gate project management methodologies.
Experience with risk management frameworks and reporting.
Previous leadership experience in reporting or project controls teams.
