Ultrassure builds AI-powered tools for the $1.3T P&C insurance market. The industry is complex and runs on outdated tech. We've raised $500k, finding clear product-market fit, and have $500M+ of Gross Written Premium running through our platform. We're hiring our first Founding Engineer in Toronto to build the next layer of scale and reliability.

What you'll do (first 90 days & beyond)

Build & ship end-to-end features across React/TypeScript, Spring Boot (Java), and Python.
Architect for scale: auth/RBAC, multi-tenancy, caching/queues, and secure data pipelines.
Own AWS: production services, storage (e.g., S3), databases, networking, CI/CD.
Productize AI for document parsing and data enrichment. Use Cursor daily to accelerate development.
Raise the bar: testing (unit/integration/e2e), monitoring/observability, and release hygiene.

What we're looking for

4-10+ years building and operating production web software in high-ownership settings.
React/TS, Spring Boot/Java, Python.
Product mindset: ship, measure, iterate with users.
Solid instincts on security and reliability (least privilege, secrets, validation, telemetry).
Daily Cursor user.
BS/MS in Computer Science from a top University.

Bonus

Fintech/insurtech, B2B SaaS, complex data pipelines, or document parsing experience.
