About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Lead Automation Tester to join a central government project. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading test automation efforts, mentoring junior testers, and ensuring quality across the delivery life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and implementation of automated test frameworks and scripts.
Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and delivery managers in an Agile environment.
Define test strategies, plans, and best practices to align with government (GDS) standards.
Oversee and mentor a small team of testers, providing guidance on automation practices and tools.
Conduct hands-on automation testing and support integration with CI/CD pipelines.
Ensure test coverage, reporting, and defect management throughout the project life cycle.
Engage with stakeholders to provide updates, highlight risks, and ensure timely delivery of quality outcomes.
Key Skills & Experience:
Proven experience as a Lead Automation Tester on government or large-scale public sector projects.
Strong background in automation testing using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent.
Proficiency in programming/Scripting languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
Experience working with CI/CD tools (eg, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes).
Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and GDS delivery practices.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable:
Active SC Clearance.
Previous experience working within Central Government departments.
