Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst -- Contractor

Location: Remote

Contract Length: 3-6 months with possible extension

Hours: Full-time contract (40 hrs/week)

Reports to: Director of Data & Analytics

About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Analyst to join our data & analytics team as a contractor. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports that drive decision-making. This role requires strong SQL skills, experience with BI visualization tools (Tableau & Power BI), and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Tableau and Power BI to support business operations and strategy.
Write efficient SQL queries to extract, clean, and transform data from various sources.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to define KPIs, understand reporting needs, and translate requirements into technical solutions.
Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for process improvement.
Ensure data accuracy and consistency across all reporting deliverables.
Document data sources, transformations, and dashboard logic for maintainability.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or related field.
Proficiency in SQL (writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting queries).
Strong hands-on experience with Tableau and Power BI (building dashboards, custom visuals, DAX for Power BI).
Solid understanding of data modeling and ETL concepts.
Ability to communicate complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Experience

Familiarity with data governance and analytics best practices.
Insurance or financial services industry experience (nice to have, not required).
