Data Engineer | Freelance to hire or FTE | Kortrijk (Hybrid)

We are looking for a hands-on Data Engineer who can do more than just keep the lights on, someone who can shape the architecture, get into the pipelines, and make it all scale.

The role

You'll be the link between raw data and business insight. This means:

Collecting, structuring, and managing data across existing pipelines and databases.
Helping design and implement a future-proof, scalable data architecture.
Developing and maintaining dashboards for Business Intelligence.
Working closely with stakeholders to ensure the data flows enable real decision-making.

This isn't a role where everything is already neatly packaged. You'll be given a base to work with, but the value you bring is in taking it forward, making it robust and scalable.

The environment

Current setup is in Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, etc.).
BI layer is in early stages; your input will shape what it becomes.
Strong buy-in from leadership to invest in a professionalized data function.

Your profile

Proven track record as a Data Engineer in a cloud environment (Azure preferred).
You know your way around data pipelines, databases, and BI tools.
Comfortable contributing to architecture design, not just execution.
Hands-on mentality with an eye for scalability and best practice.
Able to operate onsite 4 days a week in Kortrijk.
Fluent in Dutch.
