What's the opportunity?

FutureLearn is look for a Learning Technologist on a 12 month FTC. The Learning Technologist is responsible for providing support for content creation and course delivery. In this role, you will support colleagues and clients in ensuring the efficient delivery of quality courses. The focus of this role is on publishing courses, resolving practical course build issues and acting as an advocate of best practice use of our course creation tool. The Learning Technologist will have experience in publishing online content, an interest or professional background in educational technology, and is particularly interested in troubleshooting problems within the course build process. The Learning Technologist will play an integral role in the evolution of the Content department, as the business grows and adapts to new and changing business requirements. Attention to detail, along with problem solving and finding creative solutions are key behaviours for success in this role. Learning Technologists are fluent in content creation using online authoring tools, and are comfortable discussing learning design and methodology.

This role works closely with colleagues to understand course publishing requirements, translate those needs into delivery solutions, and then work closely with partners and other organisations to support the development of online learning experiences aligned to FutureLearn's purpose of transforming access to education.

What does success look like:

Providing timely, accurate and friendly support to partners and other course creators during the course build process
Creating and maintaining long-term professional relationships with the course creators
Assisting partners and colleagues with questions related to best practice use of FutureLearn's course creation tools
Carrying out administrative tasks on FutureLearn's content management system such as managing partner permissions
Carrying out any administrative tasks required in relation to the running of courses such as setting up, duplicating and opening course runs
Identifying, communicating and managing risks that could affect delivery of a course.
Helping ensure all course content and activities are accessible to all users
Collaborating within the Content team to ensure that courses are published on time and quality standard are maintained

What you bring to the table:

Good understanding of usability and accessibility guidelines
Demonstrable experience of supporting online content creation
Comfortable working in a space that is adjacent to product development and technology
Highly organised, with the ability to quickly prioritise tasks and manage workloads
Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate with colleagues, partners and subject matter experts with confidence, clarity, transparency and passion
Strong organisational skills, including a strong track record for managing multiple projects at different stages of development
A self-motivated, organised attitude and the ability to prioritise intuitively, especially when under pressure, to deliver against conflicting demands
Inclusive and collaborative in a diverse multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable Experience

Experience working in Google Suite
Platforms and Tools. Demonstrable experience in one or all of: Monday.com, Contentful, an e-Course or media publishing platform
Experience working in Zendesk or similar mail management platforms
Working knowledge of Looker
