POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Cyber Security is responsible for designing, building, and leading our security program. With responsibility for the ongoing assessment and improvements of the Miller Zell Cyber Security program. This person will leverage the standard Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover model to build and maintain a security road map. This role is the Miller Zell subject matter expert on cyber security and acts is strategic and hands-on member of the IT. The ideal candidate thrives in a lean environment, is comfortable being a player-coach, and can continue to elevate and enforce the company's cybersecurity posture.
EESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Lead the development and implementation processes for the organization's IT systems and department in accordance with the company's policies, guidelines, and core values
Maintain a culture of Security Mindfulness with a focus on the Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover.
Act as the Cyber Security subject matter expert.
Ongoing review and improvement of existing controls based on CIS Benchmarks, Microsoft Security Baselines, SOC2, and NIST guidelines.
Maintain and enforce policies across all aspects of cybersecurity.
Maintain an ongoing roadmap for Cyber Security
Facilitate IT security audits or investigations
Develop and maintain relationships with external IT vendors and service providers
Ability to assess, audit, plan, and harden the cybersecurity posture including:
Entra (Azure AD) identity and access controls.
Office 365 & Exchange Online: ATP, phishing/malware defense, DKIM/DMARC/SPF.
DLP, data classification, sensitivity labeling.
endpoint security technologies (EDR/XDR, patching, vulnerability scanning).
Next-gen firewall best practices (IPS, SSL inspection, sandboxing, centralized logging).
Firewall policies and rule sets
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science/Cybersecurity, or similar, master's degree or MBA preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of business experience managing a Cybersecurity department

Excellent knowledge about IT security, modern IT infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, and system architecture
Excellent documentation and verbal and written communication skills.
Experience leading and being hands on with a technical team and interfacing with end users to effectively understand their needs and work with the technical team to support the desired outcomes
