Cloud Engineer - Migration & Modernization

Denver, CO

Long term contract

Responsibilities:

Augment pinched teams and backfill capacity diverted to support migration, so that we can continue to deliver on roadmap
Do cleanup and retire debt that we don't want to migrate... e.g. unused tables in data lake, etc.
Replatform systems within our AWS environment prior to migration. E.g. getting things onto our Evergreen Kubernetes platform
Rebuild cloud-proprietary observability, dashboards, alerting to make them portable/agnostic
Get deeper into application logic that is hard to port, help with migration. E.g. business logic in lambdas, etc.
Help with migration activities in production environments (possibly including sensitive data) where cloud vendors fear to tread

Required Skills & Experience

Strong hands-on experience with AWS; familiarity with Azure and GCP is a plus.
Expertise in Kubernetes, containerization, and replatforming workloads.
Working knowledge of Data Lake technologies and Databricks.
Experience in .NET-based application stacks and modernization.
Proficiency with observability and monitoring tools - OpenTelemetry (OTEL), Prometheus, Grafana, tracing, and alerting.
Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (networking, IAM, cost optimization, security).
Programming experience in Python, C, or similar languages.
Familiarity with QA processes for validating migrated workloads.
