Job Title: Software Engineer - Robotics Systems

Location: Onsite - Redmond, WA

Duration: 12 Months

Rate: $74.32 - $77.70/hr (W2)

About the Role:

The Robotics Systems team at Reality Labs is seeking a Software Engineer II to design and implement hardware-software system integration, enabling state-of-the-art control algorithms and models on real robot hardware and in simulation environments.

About the Team:

We are a multidisciplinary group passionate about transforming raw sensory signals into interpretable perceptual information for VR/AR, human interaction, and robotics.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with scientists and engineers to integrate hardware and software for robotic/mechatronic systems.
Evaluate real-world robotic systems, identify limitations, and propose performance improvements.
Conduct experiments on real and simulated robotic systems; debug and support parts manufacturing.
Participate hands-on in the lab, assembling robots and integrating research sub-assemblies into prototypes.
Conduct failure analysis, design tests, measure data, and refine designs.
Develop communication firmware/software for robotic subsystems.
Research, develop, and calibrate characterization/training sensors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant field (or equivalent experience).
3-4+ years in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electro-Mechanical Design, Sensor & Communications, or similar.
Experience with hardware-software integration for real-time systems.
Proficiency in Robot Operating System (ROS 1 & 2).
Proficiency in C++ and/or Python (including frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with SOLIDWORKS, Siemens NX, or similar CAD tools.
Experience with manufacturing processes and materials.
Experience with machine learning tools and simulation/finite element analysis.
Experience in automation equipment design and custom machine builds.

Must-Have Skills:

Strong combination of software and hardware experience, integrating hardware with software.
Hands-on experience with sensors and managing software systems.

Interview Process:

1 Round Panel Interview (3 interviewers, 1 candidate, 1 hour total)
