Position Overview

The person will be responsible for managing and supporting MySQL database technologies in a mission-critical environment. This role involves installation, configuration, tuning, maintenance, and performance optimization of MySQL databases, as well as implementing advanced clustering and automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Install, patch, upgrade, configure, tune, and maintain MySQL databases (versions 8.0.x, 8.4.x; migrating to 8.0.42 and 8.4.5).
Design and implement InnoDB clustering across multiple data centers.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance bottlenecks and system issues.
Review and assess database design changes to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams and vendors on platform initiatives.
Represent the database group in infrastructure and development projects.
Monitor, maintain, and perform database backups and recovery operations.
Manage database security in alignment with company policies and regulatory standards.
Review stress testing results and ensure high system availability.
Automate routine DBA tasks and streamline operational processes.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members.

Required Technical Skills (6+ Years)

Deep understanding of MySQL storage engines and architecture.
Strong hands-on experience with MySQL 8.x and its latest features.
Expertise in Automated Failover Solutions and InnoDB Clustering.
Knowledge of Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and database security.
Proficiency in MySQL best practices, limitations, and workarounds.
Understanding of ODBC/JDBC client-server communication.
Strong Shell and SQL scripting skills for automation and process improvement.
Experience with automated installation and patching tools is a plus.

Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required.
