About the Role

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for accurately processing employee payroll in a timely manner, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Finance and Human Resources teams by ensuring all employees are paid correctly and on schedule while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

Prepare and process biweekly or monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Review and verify timekeeping records, attendance, and other relevant data.
Calculate wages, bonuses, deductions, garnishments, and benefits contributions.
Issue payments via direct deposit or printed checks, as applicable.
Maintain and update payroll and employee data in the HR/payroll system.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
Assist in preparing and submitting payroll-related tax filings and reports (e.g., W-2s, 941s, unemployment reports).
Respond promptly to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and time-off balances.
Collaborate with HR to ensure proper handling of new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.
Reconcile payroll accounts and assist in audits or year-end closing processes.
Maintain confidentiality of all payroll information and company records.
