Position: Exceptional Junior Software Engineer

Referral Partner: Mercor

Type: Hourly Contract

Compensation: $50–$150/hour (based on experience and location)

Location: Remote

Duration: Initial 1–2 months (with strong potential for extension)

Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

Role Responsibilities (Training support will be provided)

Design and implement complex database schemas to support advanced AI workflows.
Build, test, and integrate sophisticated APIs for secure and scalable systems.
Develop and deploy authentication mechanisms, policy enforcement, and backend frameworks.
Populate environments with synthetic data optimized for Reinforcement Learning models.
Ensure applications are performant, secure, and modular, while adapting to unique RL constraints.
Work asynchronously and independently with flexible scheduling.

Requirements

Strong professional software engineering experience at top-tier startups, quantitative trading firms, hedge funds, or similarly high-performance environments
.Proven success in designing and/or leading database schema development.
Strong proficiency in SQL and database structuring
Expertise in API development (creation, testing, and integration)
Exceptional problem-solving ability with close attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Access to a desktop or laptop computer (Chromebooks not supported).
