The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General (SG) - Shareholder Relations and Institutional Matters Department (SR&IM) - Institutional Representation Division (IRD) at the EIB Local Office in Brussels, Belgium: TRAINEE

Duration: 3 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026)

Objective of the traineeship

Under the responsibility of the Head of EIB Group Office in Belgium - based in Brussels - you will actively participate to the daily tasks and objectives of the EIB Group in the Belgium (and eventually inside and outside the EU), while getting an understanding of the EIB Group's activities.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will be:

Develop comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the EIB Group activity (EIB, EIF, EIB Global, Advisory Services and EIB Institute) and collect information and data from internal stakeholders in an efficient manner. This will be used to enhance the Office's capacity to inform, cooperate and communicate, both internally and externally.
Identify relevant company growth measurements that can be monitored in EIF's final beneficiaries to identify potential clients for EIB's growth financing products.
Elaborate market intelligence for Belgium but also potential cross border (Netherlands, France) including mapping of relevant EIB Group stakeholders (including NPI's, Governmental Bodies or Agencies, segments of financial intermediaries, business associations, etc) and its policy targets, their new or ongoing initiatives in the market, etc. Conduct ad hoc market research and intelligence related to specific EIF & EIB fundraising activities.
Support the creation of a campaign showcasing past EIB projects, including research, stakeholder outreach, and content development (photos, videos, articles, interviews) for digital and print use.
Provide general support in the integration of the EIF representation into the EIB Group office framework, including setting up a repository of information/documentation stemming from EIF.
Keep track of the news related to the EIB Group and EU affairs/Economy in Belgium.
Actively participate to the promotion of the EIB Group at the national and EU level.
Participate to the organization of events with internal and/or external counterparts.
Contribute to the preparation of briefings for high-level missions taking place in the Netherlands and in the production of regular reports and newsletters.
Contribute to making the EIB Group better known in Belgium towards any counterparts by working closely with the Press Officer.
Contribute to tasks related to the origination and instruction of projects working closely with Loan Officers.

Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills

Final year of studies or University degree in finance, economics, business administration, international relations, EU affairs or political science or in a related field.
Understanding of and interest in the EIB Group's mission and activities as an EU institution.
A strong interest in key EIB thematic areas including innovation, climate and small and medium enterprises.
Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken French and/or English. Knowledge of Dutch language would be an advantage.
