Overview
Are you ready to lead the charge in data governance and privacy compliance? As the Director of Data Governance and Privacy Compliance for US Commercial, you'll be at the forefront of developing and implementing strategies that ensure data quality, security, compliance, and privacy across our organization. This pivotal role demands a visionary leader who can align commercial data management practices with regulatory standards, company policies, and industry best practices. Based in Boston, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster a culture of data integrity and accountability while managing US data privacy concerns. You will report to the Executive Director of Strategic Data Management and Advanced Analytics. Your skills will guide our progress in data oversight.
You will be responsible for: Responsibilities
Data Governance Strategy & Framework
Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures for the commercial organization.
Ensure alignment with enterprise-wide data governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
Encourage data fluency and enhance awareness of data governance principles within the commercial organization.
Data Quality & Integrity
Monitor data quality and integrity across commercial data assets, identifying and resolving issues.
Implement data quality controls and metrics to maintain data accuracy and consistency.
Collaborate with data owners and stewards to address data quality issues and implement solutions.
Data Security, Compliance & US Privacy
Ensure adherence to regulations regarding data privacy, including addressing US data privacy considerations.
Develop and implement privacy measures to protect sensitive commercial data.
Monitor, assess, and address data privacy risks, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations like HIPAA and CCPA.
Stay abreast of regulatory shifts and industry guidelines concerning US data privacy to preemptively modify governance and privacy policies.
Effectively communicate data privacy requirements to all stakeholders and provide necessary training.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
Build strong relationships with commercial stakeholders, including data owners, data stewards, and business users.
Collaborate with IT, legal, compliance, commercial teams, the Data Protection unit, and Patient Services to develop and maintain a centralized data management repository.
Collaborate with the Privacy team to ensure alignment of all privacy regulations and safeguard personal and sensitive data.
Collaborate with Patient Services to ensure that data management protocols prioritize patient requirements and improve the overall patient journey.
Provide guidance and training to staff on data governance policies, compliance requirements, and privacy considerations.
Serve as the main contact for all inquiries related to coordinating data management and compliance.
Data Management & Technology
Stay current on industry trends in the USA concerning data governance and the management of data.
Evaluate and recommend data governance tools and technologies to support the commercial organization.
Coordinate with IT and data engineering teams to ensure data governance requirements are met. Requirements
You will need to have:
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Experience required: 12+ years in data governance, regulatory adherence, and data confidentiality, ideally within pharmaceutical or healthcare industries.
Solid understanding of frameworks to lead all aspects of data, master data fundamentals, data integrity, and tools for data management (such as ETL, data warehousing, BI tools).
Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Analytical Competence: Demonstrating strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills, capable of applying data to uncover strategic insights.
Communication Skills: Superior verbal and written communication abilities, adept at articulating complex information in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team and fast-paced environment. Preferred
In-depth knowledge of US data privacy regulations such as HIPAA, CCPA, and other relevant compliance standards in the pharmaceutical industry. In-Office/Hybrid
