Description of the Team/Project

We offer internships in the Algorithms and Applications team for a duration of 6 months, which can start as early as February 2026. The mission of this team is to bring a practical quantum advantage to industry. It is a young team of engineers and scientists with over 10 people focused on developing state-of-the-art photonic quantum algorithms on Perceval and Merlin (Quandela's software development kit). Apply until the 21/11/2025.

We offer several internships around the following topics:

Training quantum machine learning (QML) models efficiently and in a scalable way
Studying the properties of QML models through the lens of either classical machine learning or quantum foundations
Classical algorithm to spoof a claim of quantum advantage in Quantum Monte-Carlo methods
Applications of classical shadow techniques

Your Key Responsibilities

Literature review, understanding scientific articles
Algorithms design and new ideas
Implementation of algorithms in Perceval and MerLin, our software platforms
Communication of results through a presentation and report

Requirements

You are currently enrolled in a university program in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related fields, and will be for the duration of the internship (preferably master's level)
You have experience with, or a strong interest in, quantum computing and quantum algorithms
You have good coding skills in Python
You are curious, keen to learn, and love solving problems
Excellent communication skills and team-player
