Full-Stack Software Engineer (Commission-Based Only)

Uptick | Remote | Contract / Commission

We’re looking for a highly capable Full-Stack Engineer to join Uptick — a boutique software development studio that builds end-to-end web and mobile products for real businesses.

This is not a learning internship or a junior dev role.

This is for someone who can own small-scale projects independently — from architecture to deployment — and deliver production-ready results.

About the Role
You’ll take on full client projects: design scalable architecture, set up front- and back-end systems, implement features, and see them through to launch.
Work closely with the founder (senior engineer, NYU CS grad, and product architect) on strategy and technical direction.
Handle both greenfield builds and rebuilds of existing applications.
Collaborate with our intern team when needed, but you’ll primarily be leading the build yourself.
You’ll have autonomy, clear deliverables, and revenue-linked pay on every project you help ship.
Tech Stack (varies by project)
Frontend: React / Next.js / React Native / TypeScript
Backend: Node.js / Firebase / Firestore / Suapbase
Infra: Vercel / Railway / Stripe / Google Cloud
(Experience in equivalent frameworks is fine — we care about execution, not buzzwords.)

Proven ability to deliver full projects start-to-finish — design, dev, deploy.
Confidence with both front-end and back-end stacks.
Strong problem-solving and architectural thinking.
Someone who’s fast, reliable, and detail-oriented — not afraid of ownership.
You thrive in autonomy, don’t need hand-holding, and enjoy building elegant solutions that actually get used.
Compensation

This is a commission-based role — meaning you earn a direct percentage of the development fee for each project you work on.

You get paid when the project gets paid. The better the delivery, the more you make.
