Why Deveraux

At Deveraux, we’re more than a rental developer. We’re builders of community, connection, and opportunity. With over $2.5 billion in managed assets across Western Canada, we’ve been recognized as Platinum Status with Canada’s Best Managed Companies for our innovation, growth, and commitment to creating thriving communities.

We specialize in the design, development, construction, and management of purpose-built apartment communities. Thanks to our vertically integrated model, we manage every stage of a project’s lifecycle, from conception to construction to long-term operations. This structure encourages collaboration across all departments and gives our team the chance to contribute meaningfully at every step.

Our developments are thoughtfully designed to be sustainable and forward-thinking, consistently exceeding national energy standards. But our impact goes beyond the buildings. We believe in giving back through donations, volunteerism, and mentorship, because responsible development includes supporting the communities around us.

At Deveraux, our culture is rooted in accountability, integrity, excellence, and collaboration. We’ve created an inclusive environment where innovation is encouraged, and every voice is heard. With access to leadership, strong mentorship, and continuous development opportunities, this is more than a workplace. It is a place where you can grow, make a difference, and be part of something meaningful.

The Opportunity

Are you a problem-solver who loves bringing clarity and structure to fast-growing

technology projects? Do you thrive in collaborative environments where your technical

expertise can directly influence how products evolve? As we roll out our own proprietary

Proptech across our communities, we’re looking for a senior developer who is excited to

collaborate with our vendor team and help lay the foundation for Deveraux’s internal

technology function.

Deveraux’s current addition to their Proptech ventures includes a smart-building

platform that integrates digital applications with physical hardware, creating a smart

ecosystem and a high customer experience. We are hiring our first in-house developer

to support the platform’s rollout, strengthen local technical capacity, and collaborate

closely with our established external vendor team.

You will work directly with our vendor’s development group, and alongside our internal

product manager and leadership team. This role involves navigating an inherited

codebase and contributing to development, debugging, integrations, and operational

reliability as we prepare for multi-building deployment. You’ll also play a key role in

helping define development standards and practices as Deveraux scales its technology

capabilities.

What We Offer...

Attractive compensation package that is competitive in the industry
Comprehensive benefits program comprising life, long-term disability, and extended medical, dental, and vision coverage.
Registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) with a matching Deveraux-funded deferred profit-sharing plan (DPSP)
Transparent and rewarding workplace dedicated to supporting your professional development.\

What You Bring...

Required

4+ years of backend development experience with Java (Spring Boot, Maven)
Experience working with modern web and mobile applications (Vue 2 or Vue 3, UniApp)
Comfort working with inherited codebases and vendor-built systems
Experience supporting real-world debugging across multiple layers (backend, web/mobile, IoT integrations, error logging tools)
Experience working with cloud-hosted environments (Jenkins or similar CI/CD)
Strong communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to advise on technical decisions, identify risks, and contribute to shaping internal development standards as Deveraux’s technology function grows.

Nice to Have

Ability to collaborate with a Mandarin-speaking vendor team and navigate code
comments and documentation that may include Mandarin.
Experience integrating with third-party APIs.
Exposure to IoT or hardware-integrated systems (e.g., smart locks, access devices).
Experience collaborating with offshore or vendor teams.
Experience helping define development best practices or contributing to long-term technical planning.

You Will...

Collaborate with an established vendor development team and act as Deveraux’s
internal technical representative.
Review, understand, and contribute to a current codebase across backend, web,
mobile, and IoT layers.
Support feature development, API integrations, debugging, and issue resolution.
Assist with deployments, environment setup, logging, and monitoring.
Participate in QA cycles to reproduce, triage, and resolve issues.
Provide technical input, identify risks, and recommend improvements to enhance
