Junior Buyer/Demand and Supply Planner.
Position Summary
The Junior Buyer/Demand and Supply Planner is responsible for ensuring sufficient inventory is available at the correct distribution point to support 100% On Time in Full (OTIF) initiative through effective planning and scheduling of production as well as support the purchase of both direct and indirect goods, ensuring the company’s procurement needs are met.
As a key member of the Supply & Operations teams, the Junior Buyer/Demand and Supply Planner will work and coordinate with the sales, supply chain, operations and accounting teams to ensure a smooth workflow and clear communications between teams at all times.
Primary Responsibilities:
Demonstrate and uphold company core values
Develop and maintain supply and demand plans for PET and PL customers through discussions in S&OP and commercialization meetings. Support company’s growing business through quick decision making and adaptability.
Proactively participate and engage in driving supply planning execution of new business opportunities, including new product launches and discontinuations, and identify process efficiencies and improvements to optimize these opportunities.
Purchasing Support: Assist with the procurement of both direct and indirect materials, supplies, and services, working under the supervision of the procurement manager.
Order Processing: Support the order placement process, ensuring that purchase orders are accurate and issued in a timely manner. Monitor order progress and communicate with suppliers to track delivery schedules.
Inventory Monitoring: Collaborate with internal teams to track inventory levels and forecast demand to prevent overstocking or stockouts.
Work to ensure/improve forecast accuracy by working with associated teams and by performing regular statistical analysis on sales data.
Lead OTIF analysis, reporting and weekly review meetings.
Create and maintain a 12-month horizon Master Production Schedule.
Assist in identifying and sourcing new suppliers, obtaining and evaluating quotes, and establishing vendor relationships to ensure reliable supply sources.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier correspondence. Assist in preparing procurement reports to monitor spending, supplier performance, and compliance with purchasing policies.
Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, procedures, and regulations. Help track and maintain contracts, purchase terms, and vendor agreements.
Monitor and analyze inventory levels and production plans versus actual, identify areas of possible improvement, and take or propose appropriate measures.
Serve as a subject matter expert for process understanding and work with production leaders to accurately maintain production rates/yields to support accurate production plans and costing.
Essential Tasks
Order Intake: Receive and acknowledge orders, ensuring all information is correct.
Order Processing: create sales orders, log orders, confirm pickups in an accurate and timely manner.
Process and ship Sample Requests for the sales team.
Regularly check inventory of finished goods to ensure stock is available to fulfill orders; liaise with appropriate departments regarding shortages, out of stocks, delays and/or complaints.
Monitor progress of all orders to ensure on time shipping, capture any shortages and delays.
Coordinate on custom manufactured orders to confirm order status and production dates.
Work with the Warehouse & Logistics teams to determine receiving dates, coordinate appointments, as well as prepare in-bound shipping documents.
Collaborate and communicate with the accounting department with following-up on past-due accounts.
General administrative and other duties, as requested.
Education & Qualifications Post-secondary degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Business or Engineering preferred.
2 to 3 years' experience in food or CPG manufacturing environment.
Minimum of 1 year of planning experience working with ERP including MRP, detailed production scheduling, and capacity evaluation in SAP is an asset.
Hands on experience in demand and supply planning activities and processes.
High proficiency with Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, reference formulas, VBA and macro creation.
Skills & Abilities:
Attention to detail and strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
