Senior Java Developer
3 month+ Contract
100% Remote
Job Summary
The Senior Java Developer will design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance software solutions in support of critical business functions. This position combines traditional full-stack development with automation and QA engineering responsibilities, making it well-suited for candidates with experience or interest in SDET-style hybrid roles. The developer will be responsible for hands-on coding, peer code reviews, and creating automated test suites to enhance quality and delivery speed.
You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Product, QA, and DevOps) to build resilient applications and ensure quality through automated testing and continuous integration practices.
Responsibilities:
Develop, enhance, and maintain Java-based applications supporting sales and enrollment systems.
Analyze, debug, and resolve complex technical issues within existing applications.
Implement automated testing frameworks and scripts to support regression and integration testing.
Collaborate with QA to integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines.
Design and develop RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and third-party services.
Participate in code reviews, ensure adherence to secure coding standards, and maintain comprehensive documentation.
Contribute to architecture discussions, providing input on scalability, performance, and maintainability.
Work in an Agile environment with frequent release cycles and cross-team collaboration.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of professional Java/J2EE and Spring Boot development experience.
Strong experience with REST API design and microservices architecture.
Hands-on experience with front-end technologies such as React.js, Node.js, or similar JavaScript frameworks.
Experience with test automation (JUnit, Selenium, TestNG, Cypress, Playwright, or similar).
Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and build tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
Experience with version control (Git) and Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in QA automation or SDET roles.
Experience working in healthcare, insurance, or financial services industries.
Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and DevOps practices.
Experience with performance testing tools and frameworks.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
