System Design Engineer (Contract – Outside IR35)

RC Fornax – Hybrid (3 days onsite)

RC Fornax, a veteran-owned engineering consultancy supporting the aerospace and defence sectors, is seeking a System Design Engineer to evaluate and interpret technical requirements, design hardware solutions from concept to qualification, and support key project milestones including Design Reviews.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support mechatronic design activities for antenna subsystems and components.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate mechanical, electrical, and control systems effectively.
Provide technical support to manufacturing and production teams, ensuring seamless transition from prototype to production.
Conduct design validation, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Participate in design reviews and provide engineering recommendations for continuous product improvement.

Essential Skills & Experience

Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline, or significant relevant industry experience.
Proven experience designing hardware solutions within a Systems Engineering environment, preferably in the defence, aerospace, or industrial domains.
Strong knowledge of electrical, electronic, and computer systems and components.
Experience designing for harsh environments, including shock, vibration, and thermal conditions.
Solid understanding of EMC principles and Mechanical Engineering fundamentals.
In-depth knowledge of DEFSTAN-00-35 is essential.
