About the Role
Join our client’s digital transformation journey as an Expert Analyst/Developer in Business Intelligence. In this freelance role, you’ll be at the heart of modernizing and optimizing the Management Information System for a major public sector organization. Your mission: empower data-driven policing and decision-making by building robust BI solutions that directly impact public safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Engage with users, managers, and stakeholders to capture and analyze information needs for reports, dashboards, and analytics.
Translate complex business questions into actionable BI requirements and data models.
Design logical and conceptual dimensional data models; map business processes to data flows.
Assess and ensure data reliability, completeness, and accuracy.
Draft functional specifications, use cases, user stories, and dashboard/report mock-ups.
Retrieve, structure, and transform data from diverse sources into the data warehouse.
Monitor and enhance data quality, integrating methods for operational follow-up.
Collaborate with developers to translate functional requirements into technical solutions.
Design, test, and validate BI reports and dashboards, ensuring data integrity.
Support implementation, troubleshoot issues, and oversee data integration processes.
Communicate BI solutions to non-technical users; provide training and support on reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
Document solutions, best practices, and contribute to the professionalization of the BI platform.
Identify opportunities for innovation and optimization in data and reporting.
Advise on new BI tools and contribute to the strategy for data-driven work.
Technical Skills
Deep expertise in Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric (development and management).
Experience with Microsoft Power BI Report Server.
Basic knowledge of SAP BusinessObjects (SAP BO).
Proficiency in DAX for data modeling and analysis.
Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL for data querying.
Experience with process modeling using BPMN or UML.
Strong command of Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Bonus: Microsoft certifications (PL-300, DP-600, DP-700).
Bonus: Knowledge of Python and/or R for data analysis.
Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
Language Proficiency
Fluent in Dutch and/or French, with strong passive understanding of the other national language.
Bonus: Professional proficiency in English.
Other Requirements
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence projects.
Master’s degree in IT or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Analytical mindset with a passion for solving complex business challenges.
Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Proactive, creative, and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving and data quality.
Team player who thrives in multidisciplinary environments.
On-site presence required in Brussels (no remote option).
