About the Role

We are seeking a freelance Vulnerability Manager to join our client’s mission-critical ICT & Communication Support Directorate. In this role, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding digital assets and infrastructure, ensuring that vulnerability management is not just a process, but a proactive force in defending the organization’s global operations. Your expertise will directly impact the security and resilience of a dynamic, international environment.

Vulnerability management is the backbone of a robust cybersecurity strategy. As the Vulnerability Manager, you will be instrumental in identifying, prioritizing, and closing security gaps before they can be exploited. Your work will protect sensitive data, support secure diplomatic operations, and enable our client to deliver on its mission of creating a safe, just, and sustainable world. The stakes are high — your leadership will ensure that the “window of opportunity” for attackers is closed, and that the organization’s global footprint remains secure.

What You’ll Be Doing

Define the scope of vulnerability analysis across all infrastructure layers, collaborating with asset owners and security managers.
Administer and optimize vulnerability analysis tools to ensure comprehensive coverage and actionable insights.
Plan and execute scheduled vulnerability scans in partnership with asset owners and operational support teams.
Evaluate, rate, and conduct risk analyses on assets, prioritizing vulnerabilities in close collaboration with the CSOC.
Coordinate with system engineers and asset owners to agree on and implement remediation schedules.
Deliver clear, actionable vulnerability analysis and reporting for management and technical teams.

Proven expertise in vulnerability management within complex, multi-layered IT environments.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into business priorities.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including security operations, system engineers, and asset owners.
Ability to communicate complex security concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Language Proficiency

Native proficiency in Dutch or French
Active knowledge of English

Other Requirements

Freelance position with a 12-month project duration
Hybrid work model (Brussels-based with remote flexibility)
Engagement subject to public procurement law
