About the Role
We are seeking an elite IT Security Analyst NIS2 (Freelance) to join our client’s digital resilience program in Brussels. This is a high-impact, four-month assignment at the heart of a foundational transformation, aligning critical public sector operations with the European NIS2 Directive. Your expertise will directly shape the security posture and future-readiness of essential digital infrastructure.

As an IT Security Analyst, you will be instrumental in bridging the gap between current capabilities and the stringent requirements of NIS2. Your work will ensure that vital services remain secure, resilient, and compliant — safeguarding the digital backbone of society. The stakes are high: your outcomes will drive organizational change, risk reduction, and sustainable security governance.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and expand the existing gap analysis between current security posture and NIS2/Cyfun framework requirements, considering organization, competencies, processes, documentation, tools, and technical environment.
Develop clear, actionable project sheets for improvement initiatives, detailing objectives, scope, deliverables, dependencies, stakeholders, high-level planning, resource estimates, required profiles, and success criteria.
Collaborate closely with the IT Security Architect, ICT Security team, program manager, and security service providers to define a coherent set of projects and priorities.
Design a comprehensive roadmap for NIS2 implementation, outlining concrete actions, responsible parties, required technologies, business impact, resource needs, timelines, and audit evidence strategies.
Prepare for implementation via Secaas 2 or IAP+ service packages, supporting the decision-making process and subsequent planning for rollout.
Contribute to project prioritization and implementation planning in partnership with the program manager.
Ensure structured, transparent, and agile collaboration with all stakeholders, fostering open communication and rapid response to change.
Technical Skills & Experience
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent through experience.
Minimum 6 years of experience as a security analyst, with at least 5 years in information security, risk management, or compliance.
At least 3 years of hands-on experience with security frameworks (CyFun, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, etc.) and conducting gap analyses.
Proven track record in managing project portfolios or implementation programs (minimum 3 years).
Strong understanding of technical and organizational security controls, incident management, supplier risk, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
Experience in public sector or government environments is highly valued.
Other Requirements
Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor are a strong advantage.
Familiarity with the Cyfun framework and public procurement processes is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary, fully staffed team.
Commitment to transparent, structured, and collaborative project delivery.
