A leading UK Financial Services organisation is initiating a major virtual desktop modernisation programme. They require a highly experienced Senior Project Manager or Programme Manager with deep delivery experience across VDI/Virtual Desktop/Digital Workplace transformation in large, regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
Own end-to-end delivery of a multi-workstream virtual desktop transformation—covering assessment, design, migration, testing, adoption, and service transition.
Coordinate technology teams across EUC, Infrastructure, Cloud (Azure), Security, Applications, and Network domains.
Act as the senior delivery lead interfacing with business leadership, risk/compliance, security, and external vendors.
Build and maintain delivery plans, RAID management, governance packs, steering board materials, and budget tracking.
Drive migration waves, cutover planning, and operational readiness for BAU teams.
Ensure alignment with FS regulatory, security, and audit requirements.Experience Required
Proven track record as a Programme Manager or strong Senior PM delivering VDI/EUC/Virtual Desktop transformations at scale (Citrix, VMware Horizon, Azure Virtual Desktop, or similar).
Experience delivering in large enterprise or Financial Services environments with strong governance and stakeholder expectations.
Deep familiarity with migration planning, app compatibility assessment, desktop build pipelines, and user adoption/change.
Strong vendor management (SIs, managed services, tooling vendors).
Excellent communication and senior stakeholder engagement skills.Desirable
Understanding of cloud-integrated VDI platforms (AVD/O365/Intune/M365 ecosystem).
Background covering security hardening, identity (Azure AD), and regulated-environment controls.
Prior experience stabilising or recovering challenged programmes.
