Cloud Engineer – Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Overview
We are seeking a Cloud Engineer with strong Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience to join a newly formed Multi-Cloud Enablement team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys tackling complex technical and business challenges, and who thrives in cloud-native, scalable, and modern environments. You will work within a cross-functional team to engineer secure, resilient, and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the design and deployment of scalable, highly available, secure, and reliable enterprise platforms on GCP (full stack).
Deliver GCP engineering services including planning, analysis, design, build, test, and deployment of cloud infrastructure and services.
Collaborate with technical and business teams to shape a cohesive vision for future-state GCP adoption.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, providing proactive recommendations for improvements.
Help develop the organization’s Multi-Cloud Strategy by leveraging knowledge of both public and private cloud technologies.
Assist in developing and managing GCP engineering governance processes and support decision-making related to multi-cloud management.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Hands-on engineering and design experience across a wide range of GCP services.
Experience building foundational GCP environments (Landing Zones), including:
Networking
Security
High Availability / Disaster Recovery
Operational support for production workloads
Experience implementing and deploying applications on cloud platforms, specifically cloud-native patterns such as:
Microservices
Service Mesh
Data Streaming
Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), particularly:
Terraform
Ansible
Working knowledge of DevOps practices.
Experience engineering data and integration solutions on GCP (e.g., DataProc, DataFusion, DataFlow, Pub/Sub).
Ability to migrate workloads into GCP from on-prem or other cloud environments and identify potential migration risks or blockers.
Understanding of public cloud platforms and hybrid architectures (cloud + on-prem).
Preferred / Plus Skills
Experience with IT support services and related infrastructure technologies, such as:
Distributed computing hardware
Network technologies (SDN, firewalls, load balancers, WAN, WiFi, Ethernet fabrics)
Directory services (Active Directory / LDAP)
SAN storage solutions
Virtual desktop solutions (VDI)
Service management and project tracking tools (ServiceNow, Jira)
