The Times seeks a Data Analyst Intern to join our growing Data & Insights Group, which is responsible for data analytics, data science, and data engineering for all the New York Times offers, including the News, Games, Cooking, and more.
The Data and Insights Group works to define metrics for digital journalism and product development. We build first-rate analytical tools and data visualizations. We create predictive models of the business and develop algorithms to support a more relevant product experience and we promote hypothesis-driven experimentation. We collaborate across disciplines, with editors, product managers, designers, engineers and marketers
About Our Summer Internships
The duration is 10 weeks long, starting on June 1, 2026.
The rate of pay for this role is $40.00 per hour.
Interns work 35 hours per week.
Open to Hybrid work based in New York.
Responsibilities
Liaise with internal business and newsroom stakeholders to understand their objectives, challenges and opportunities.
Use exploratory analysis to deeply understand The New York Times’s audience and their behavior across platforms.
Use observation and analysis to recommend iterative improvements to The New York Times’s products and services.
Partner with Data Analysts and Product Managers on the end-to-end process of test design, implementation, and analysis.
Democratize data through designing, building, and automating dashboards or other means.
Influence internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization to take action on business opportunities based on insights generated.
Document and communicate findings and insights to stakeholders across the company.
Basic Qualifications
Undergraduate studies with the expectation to graduate within the next 18 months/career changers/bootcamp graduates
Experience in SQL, Python, or other coding languages
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in manipulating, analyzing, and visualizing datasets
Experience with website or media analytics

The hourly rate of base pay for this role is:
$40—$40 USD
