We use the best cloud-native and AI-enabled tools, and apply a battle-tested combination of Agile, Lean, and design thinking to collaboratively solve our client's most pressing challenges - and do it right the first time. We often work in regulated industries, such as healthcare, financial services, government and education. Our work helps detect diseases, identify kids who need special educational support, applies AI to support complex legal settlements, helps people access mental health services, and so much more.
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior DevOps Engineer to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will be a strong advocate for automation, infrastructure as code (IaC), and continuous improvement, and will play a critical role in building and scaling our infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and observability platform.
This role requires a forward-thinking perspective on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) tools are rapidly transforming the DevOps landscape. The Senior DevOps Engineer will not only utilize these tools but also be able to articulate a clear point of view on their current and future impact on the role and industry.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure using IaC principles (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK).
Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines to facilitate rapid, reliable, and frequent software deployments.
Manage and administer containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, ECS, Kubernetes).
Implement and maintain comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure high availability and performance.
Collaborate with development teams to solve complex infrastructure and application issues.
Drive continuous improvement in security, cost efficiency, and operational excellence.
Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to improve system resilience.
Document infrastructure architectures, operational procedures, and runbooks for team-wide knowledge sharing.
Mentor and guide junior engineers on best practices and emerging technologies.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability, or Infrastructure Engineering role.
Expert proficiency with AWS (GCP and Azure experience would be a plus).
Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).
Extensive experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD).
Proficiency with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
Proficiency with provisioning and maintaining PostgreSQL and MySQL databases (RDS, Cloud SQL, etc.)
Preferred, but not required:
Experience in a regulated industry or high-security environment.
Certifications related to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional).
AI and the Evolution of Software Engineering & Ops
All candidates must be prepared to discuss and demonstrate the following during the interview process:
Practical AI Tool Usage: Specific examples of AI tools used in professional or personal projects to enhance productivity, solve complex problems, or accelerate development. If you have a preferred agentic tool setup, please share!
Understanding of AI Limitations: A clear understanding and articulation of the current technical, ethical, and accuracy limitations of modern AI tools in the engineering context.
Strategic AI Opportunity: A viewpoint on how AI tools create new opportunities for software engineering, such as shifting focus from boilerplate code to complex problem-solving or architectural design.
Evolution of the Engineering Role: A well-articulated point of view on how your role has already changed (e.g., new workflows, skills, ways of collaborating) due to the introduction of AI and how you expect the role to evolve in the coming years based on your assessment of coming advancements in AI tools and technologies.
