About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal DevOps Engineer to join the Veeva PLM team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our next-generation infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will lead the migration of our platform, creating a scalable, reliable environment from scratch while maintaining complete ownership over tooling and the continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, startup-like environment and is passionate about balancing performance, cost, and reliability. You will provide architectural leadership, implement best practices in DevOps, and shape the future of our technology stack, ensuring platform stability and security. Your expertise will contribute to enhancing our infrastructure to support rapid growth and innovation, ultimately enabling faster delivery of life sciences solutions to patients globally.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps roles, focusing on automation, tooling, and building scalable distributed systems
Extensive experience designing and implementing deployment architectures within AWS cloud environment
Deep understanding of core AWS services such as VPC, EKS, EC2, IAM, S3, and related services
Proficiency in containerization and orchestration technologies, particularly Kubernetes
Strong skills in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible
Expertise with CI/CD tools, especially GitLab, Jenkins, or similar platforms
Solid understanding of monitoring and observability frameworks, including Grafana, Prometheus, and Elasticsearch
Ability to work in PST or MST time zones and possess unrestricted right to work in the United States

Responsibilities

Lead the architectural design and implementation of scalable, reliable cloud infrastructure on AWS
Drive DevOps best practices by implementing robust Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategies using Terraform and Ansible
Design, develop, and manage end-to-end CI/CD pipelines to automate and streamline deployment processes across multiple environments (Development, QA, Staging, Production)
Ensure platform reliability by focusing on durability, availability, performance, and correctness, minimizing system failures and downtime
Provide architectural recommendations and implement enhancements to improve security, scalability, and operational efficiency
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new tools, methodologies, and security policies
Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and optimize infrastructure performance using observability tools
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and incorporate innovative solutions to improve infrastructure and deployment workflows
