Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer
Remote with occasional UK client/site meetings)
A leading UK digital consultancy is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to join a high-calibre engineering team delivering modern, scalable, cloud-native solutions for enterprise clients.
You’ll work across the full stack—Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, AWS and drive high-quality engineering practices across greenfield and transformation programmes.
This role will suit an engineer who owns their craft, thrives in structured delivery environments, and can operate confidently across architecture, development, testing and DevOps.
What you’ll be doing
• Developing and maintaining full-stack applications using Next.js (frontend) and Node.js (backend)
• Building clean, responsive UI components and translating wireframes into production-ready interfaces
• Designing and implementing RESTful APIs with Node.js, TypeORM and strong data-modelling discipline
• Writing modular, test-driven code (unit + integration) using Jest, Supertest or similar
• Managing infrastructure with Docker Compose, Terraform and deploying to AWS (EC2, ECS, RDS, S3)
• Applying DDD practices and preparing clear technical documentation
• Working closely with Product, DevOps and QA across continuous integration and agile delivery cycles
• Participating in code reviews, trunk-based development and modern engineering workflows
Essential skills & experience
• Strong background in OO design, enterprise integration, microservices and/or serverless architectures
• Advanced experience in Next.js or React (including SSR/ISR concepts)
• Strong Node.js skills with Express.js/Fastify and ORM tools such as TypeORM
• Solid TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3
• Hands-on experience using Docker Compose for local and containerised development
• Comfortable working with key AWS services (EC2, ECS, RDS, S3)
• Deep understanding of REST API patterns, error handling, and security best practices
• Experience with automated testing (Jest, Mocha, Supertest)
• Confident using Git and CI/CD pipelines
Desirable
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MariaDB, GraphQL or MongoDB
• Familiarity with Terraform / IaC tools
• Prior experience in Agile/Scrum environments
• Experience building universal/isomorphic React applications
• Exposure to mobile-first, PWA or modern front-end performance patterns
