About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Warehouse Developer (Freelance) to join our client’s mission-critical project in Brussels for a 9-month engagement. This is your opportunity to architect and deliver robust data solutions that empower the Department of Education and Training to make data-driven decisions at scale. What You’ll Be Doing
Designing, modeling, and developing advanced data warehouse architectures and applications
Leading project-oriented workstreams, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of data solutions
Building and optimizing ETL processes using tools such as Cognos, Datastage, and Airflow
Integrating, managing, and maintaining data warehouse components: ETL, BI/reporting, databases, and metadata
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable data models
Driving Agile development practices and taking a leadership role within the team
Developing APIs in Python to support data integration and automation
Ensuring data quality, security, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle
Leveraging AWS cloud services to deliver high-performance, scalable data solutions
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 6 years of demonstrable experience as a Data Engineer, with a strong focus on data warehouse development
At least 5 years of hands-on experience in data warehouse modeling (senior level)
Proven expertise in ETL development (minimum 2 years)
Solid experience with AWS cloud services; AWS Big Data Specialty and AWS Developer Associate certifications are highly valued
Strong background in project-oriented work and/or formal training in data warehouse modeling
Hands-on experience with Cognos, Datastage, and Airflow
Demonstrable experience developing APIs in Python
Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, processes, and architectures
Proven ability to build and maintain data integration (ETL), reporting & analysis (BI), databases, and metadata components
Leadership in Agile development methodologies, with the ability to guide and inspire teams
Language requirement: Dutch at European CEFR level C2
Freelance availability for a 9-month project in Brussels, with the possibility to work from home
Other Requirements
Assignment under Framework Contract 2022 - 2027 (Lot 1)
Full-time commitment (100% work regime), estimated at 1824 hours for the project duration
Client selection based on 50% quality and 50% price weighting
No processing of personal data required for this assignment
