On behalf of Defra, we are looking for a Business Intelligence Developer (Inside IR35) for a 4 Month contract based REMOTELY/ in UK Wide.

In the Defra group, we deal with a vast range of issues that profoundly impact on people’s lives. We are seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence to join our team and play a key role in designing, structuring, and optimising data models that support our business intelligence and analytics initiatives. You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and aligned with organisational needs.

* Design and develop BI solutions, including dashboards and reports, to meet business requirements.

Implement and optimize data models for reporting purposes (not just high-level conceptual modelling).

Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability across BI platforms

Essential:
* SQL Expertise: Advanced skills in writing, optimising, and troubleshooting complex queries.
* Proven experience as a BI Developer or in a similar role.

Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric.
*

Strong understanding of Data Visualisation and reporting best practices.
*

Ability to deliver practical, business-focused solutions quickly and effectively * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Experience of working independently and alongside data modellers.

Desirable:
* Experience with Power BI and other Microsoft ecosystem tools.
* Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture principles.
* Dataverse: Practical knowledge of data modelling and integration within Microsoft Dataverse.
