A fast-growing SaaS and digital product company is looking for a Director of Software Engineering to lead the build and scale of its technology function. This is a rare opportunity to shape the engineering vision, drive innovation, and help deliver next-generation AI-augmented software products in a high-growth, well-funded environment.

Role: Director of Software Engineering

Salary: £110,000 to £150,000 (dependant on experience)

Location: Guildford – Full-time, 5 days per week onsite

What you’ll be doing:

Build and lead a high-performing engineering team focused on delivering scalable SaaS and digital products
Drive innovation by embedding AI into both product functionality and engineering processes
Partner with Product, Data, and AI teams to deliver a cohesive technology roadmap with regular release cycles
Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring performance, quality, and security standards are met
Implement modern cloud-native architectures and DevOps best practices to enhance scalability and efficiency
Establish and monitor KPIs for engineering performance and delivery effectiveness
Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align technology with commercial goals and growth strategy
Represent the engineering function in strategic discussions and investor or partner meetings

What you’ll need:

Proven experience in a SaaS or digital product environment, ideally scaling from start-up to high-growth
Deep technical expertise in C#, .NET Core, Angular, SQL, and Azure (or equivalent cloud platforms)
Strong understanding of AI/ML integration and how it can enhance both products and engineering delivery
Background in modernising engineering practices and introducing automation, CI/CD, and agile methodologies
Experienced in leading and mentoring technical teams while maintaining hands-on technical credibility
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with commercial acumen
