Business Data Analyst (Hybrid – Austin, TX)
Type: Full-Time Contract
Start Date: January 2026
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid – Onsite Mon/Tue/Thu, Remote Wed/Fri)
Note: Only local candidates already living in the Austin, TX area will be considered.
About the Role
We are looking for a Systems Analyst III / Business Data Analyst with strong experience analyzing business processes, documenting requirements, and supporting data-driven projects. The role involves reviewing current systems, understanding business goals, and writing detailed business requirements for new features or enhancements.
You will work closely with product owners, business teams, and technical teams to ensure the system meets business needs and supports organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze existing business processes, system capabilities, and data flows
Document current state workflows and identify areas for improvement
Write clear business requirements, Epics, User Stories, and acceptance criteria
Conduct requirements gathering sessions and lead data-focused meetings
Build data mapping documents, data dictionaries, and detailed specifications
Review and present visual models, dashboards, and process diagrams
Collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams
Support project planning, requirement reviews, and functional discussions
Identify risks, gaps, and impacts related to business or system changes
Recommend solutions based on business needs and data insights
Required Skills
8+ years of hands-on experience as a Business Data Analyst or Systems Analyst
Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting complex business data
Ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage requirements
Experience designing and optimizing data workflows
Skilled in writing Epics, User Stories, and acceptance criteria
Strong documentation skills (BRDs, data dictionaries, mapping specs)
Experience creating dashboards or visual models to communicate findings
Ability to lead interviews, workshops, and data discussions
Preferred Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience with SNAP, Medicaid, or TANF eligibility rules
Knowledge of integrated eligibility systems
Experience leading JAD sessions
Work Schedule
Hybrid work model:
Onsite: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
Remote: Wednesday, Friday
May require occasional work outside normal business hours
